Winter's Magic - Ladakh Tour

Day 01: Arrival in Leh and Acclimatisation

Experience a wonderful flight over the Himalayas. Upon arrival in Leh, you will be received by a Kailash Expeditions representative and transferred to your hotel. After welcome tea and coffee, rest for the entire day and allow your body to acclimatise to the high altitude. In the late afternoon, if your health permits, drive to Shanti Stupa and spend some time enjoying the serene surroundings. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02: Exploring Leh, Spituk Monastery and Magnetic Hill

After a sumptuous breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Spituk Monastery, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, the mysterious Magnetic Hill, and Sangam, the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers. Return to Leh in the evening. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 03: Excursion to the Frozen Pangong Lake

After an early breakfast, drive to Pangong Lake via Thiksey Monastery and Shey Palace. Enjoy the mesmerising blue waters of the lake in its frozen state, surrounded by magnificent mountains and breathtaking landscapes. Spend the afternoon admiring the beauty of Pangong Lake before returning to Leh. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 04: Drive to the World's Highest Motorable Road

After breakfast, drive to Khardung La Pass (approximately 18,400 ft.), one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Enjoy the stunning mountain views before returning to the hotel for some rest. In the evening, take a leisurely walk through Leh's Main Bazaar. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.

Day 05: Village Experience and Traditional Ladakhi Cuisine

Enjoy a leisurely morning. In the afternoon, visit Shankar Gompa and later witness the beautiful sunset from Shanti Stupa (Japanese Pagoda), which offers panoramic views of Leh city. Afterwards, drive to Stok Village, where you can learn about the rich history and culture of Ladakh. Take a walk towards the base of Stok Kangri (depending on your capability) and enjoy authentic Ladakhi hospitality while staying with a local family in Chushot or Stok Village. Overnight stay in a traditional Ladakhi home.

Day 06: Visit to Thiksey Monastery and Hemis Gompa

Begin the day with a visit to Sindhu Darshan, located about 7 km from Leh on the banks of the historic Indus River. Continue to Thiksey Monastery, one of the most vibrant and active monasteries in Ladakh. Dating back to the 16th century, it belongs to the Gelug-pa sect and is renowned for its impressive architecture and sacred relics.

Later, drive upstream along the Indus River to Hemis Gompa via Karu village. Hemis Monastery, also known as Changchub Samstanling, dates back to the 17th century and is famous for the Hemis Tsechu Festival, which celebrates the birth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava. The monastery houses beautiful frescoes, murals, silver-gilt chortens, and an excellent library.

After returning to Leh, enjoy a walking tour through the old town. The evening is free for leisure activities. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.

Day 07: Departure from Leh

Early in the morning, transfer to the airport for your onward flight. Leave with unforgettable memories and sweet experiences of the magical land of Ladakh.

Inner Line Permits for Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake.

All sightseeing by vehicle as per the itinerary.

Tour Notes:

All passengers are required to report at least two hours before departure due to security procedures at the airport. Only jewellery and laptops are permitted in cabin baggage.
