About Manali
According to legend, Vaivasvata Manu, the seventh incarnation of Manu, discovered a tiny fish in his bathing water. The fish requested his protection and later warned him about an impending deluge that would submerge the world. Manu built an ark, and when the flood came, Lord Vishnu, in his Matsya Avatar (fish incarnation), towed the ark to safety. As the waters receded, the ark came to rest on a hillside, and the place was named Manali after Manu. Today, this picturesque hill station at an altitude of 2,050 meters is one of India's most popular holiday destinations, blessed with snow-clad mountains, lush forests, flower-filled meadows, charming villages, and fruit orchards.
