Uttar Pradesh

Varanasi, India

Uttar Pradesh; has large number of historical monuments and places with religious significance. The state is home of India’s most visited sites,holiest city of India and birthplace of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. Some of the important tourist attractions in Uttar Pradesh include Ganges river,Ram Janmabhoomi,Kumbh Mela, Triveni Sangam and Dudhwa National Park,Mirzapur Division, Ghaziabad, Noida, Gonda, Rehar and Jaunpur.

1,Ayodhya

is the birthplace of Lord Rama hence known as Ram Janmabhoomi and one of the seven most important pilgrimage sites called Saptapuri. Ayodhya is an important city of Ancient India, situated on the bank of Sarayu river.

2,Mathura

is also one of the Sapta Puri and birthplace of Lord Krishna. The Krishna Janmabhoomi is famous for many places of historic religious importance and temple such as Keshav Dev Temple, Birla Mandir and Banke Bihari Temple.

3,Vrindavan

in Mathura district is a holy city for Hinduism along with Govardhan and Gokul. Mathura Vrindavan are famous for Lord Krishna temple such as Prem Mandir,Govind Dev Ji Temple, Sri Radha Raman Mandir, Banke Bihari Temple,Sri Krishna Balarama Temple, Meera Bai Temple,Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple and Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir. Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir is the most expensively built temples in India and world’s tallest temple. The temple is under construction at Vrindavan, spread over a sprawling 26 acres. 4, Agra  Agra on the banks of river Yamuna is part of the Uttar Pradesh Heritage Arc tourist circuit and home to one of the New7Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal. Agra is a major tourist destination along with Delhi and Jaipur Golden Triangle tourist circuit and famous for Agra red Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. 5,Fatehpur Sikri  Fatehpur Sikri in Agra district is best preserved examples of Mughal architecture in India. Some of the important buildings and tourist attractions in Fatehpur Sikri are Buland Darwaza,Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisht and Panch Mahal.

4,Chitrakoot

is known for a number of ancient temples and religious sites, divided between the states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Places of tourist importance in Chitrakoot include Ramghat, Bharat Milap temple,Hanuman Dhara and Kamadgiri.

5,Deogarh

village in Lalitpur district is located on the right bank of Betwa River and known for ancient Gupta monuments. The monuments of Deogarh are protected by Archaeological Survey of India including Dashavatara temple,Shantinath Temple and Varaha temple.

6,Varanasi,

Banaras or Kashi is the holiest Indian city, located on the banks of the river Ganges and home to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Durga Temple and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple. Kashi is also house Asia’s largest residential universities Banaras Hindu University and known worldwide for its many ghats. Apart from the 19 archaeological sites, other notable landmarks in Varanasi are Jantar Mantar,Ramnagar Fort,Alamgiri Mosque,Parshvanath Jain temple and Gange Ghats in Varanasi.

07,Sarnath

is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site near the confluence of the Ganges and Varuna river. The city located 13 km from Varanasi and famous for impressive 128 feet high Dhamek Stupa, Ashoka Pillar and Mulagandhakuti Vihara.

08,Kushinagar

Is an International Buddhist pilgrimage site, situated at 53 km east from Gorakhpur. Parinirvana Stupa, Nirvana Chaitya,Ramabhar Stupa,reclining Nirvana statue of the Buddha and Indo Japan Sri Lanka temple are the major tourist attractions of Kushinagar.

09,Gorakhpur

Is one of the major districts of Uttar Pradesh, located on the banks of Rapti river. The city of Gorakhpur is home to Gorakshanath temple, Gorakhnath Math and world’s Longest Railway platform that stretch of around 1.35 kilometres.

10,Allahabad

Is third most liveable city in Uttar Pradesh and is the second oldest city in India. Religious attractions of Allahabad include the Kumbh Mela, Triveni Sangam, Tomb of Nithar at Khusro bagh, Sri Bade Hanuman Mandir and All Saints Cathedral.

11,Lucknow

Is the largest city in Uttar Pradesh and an important centre of governance. The city along with Agra and Varanasi is the part of Uttar Pradesh Heritage Arc and famous for Bada Imambara, Rumi Darwaza, Hazratganj, La Martiniere School and Ambedkar Memorial Park.

12,Kanpur

is the second largest city of Uttar Pradesh and was the town of Karna from the Mahabharata. Important places to visit in Kanpur are Khereshwar Shiv Mandir,Bithoor,Allen Forest Zoo, Anandeshwar Mandir,Kanpur Memorial Church and JK Temple. 16,Jhansi  The historic city of Jhansi lies in the Bundelkhand region which was ruled by queen of the princely state of Jhansi. Places of interest in Jhansi include Jhansi Fort,Rani Mahal,Government Museum, Laxmi Temple and Herbal Garden.

13,Mirzapur

District is known for the Vindhyavasini temple in Vindhyachal, several Ghats and tourist attractions like waterfalls,Baba ashram,dams,natural spots,Chunar Fort and Ghanta Ghar.

14,Sonbhadra

Region has many electrical power stations and referred as the Energy Capital of India. Tourist attractions of Sonbhadra district are Vijaygarh Fort,Salkhan Fossil Park,Rihand Dam,Shivdwar Temple, Jwaladevi Temple and Renukeshwar Mahadev Temple.

15, BadaGaon

village near Khekra is an prominent Jain religious site and famous for temples of Lord Parshvanath. Trilok Teerth Dham in Bada Gaon is a 317 feet high Jain temple, built in shape of Jain Emblem.

20,Hastinapur

In Meerut district was the capital of the Kauravas of Mahabharata,located on the bank of the holy Ganga. In the present day, Hastinapur is famous for Kailash Parvat, Jambudweep, Shwetambar Jain Temple,Gurdwara and Hastinapur Sanctuary.

21,Kumbh Mela

At Triveni Sangam  Kumbh Mela festival of India is the largest peaceful gatherings in the world, held once in 12 years. Triveni Sangam at Allahabad is the confluence of three sacred rivers of India – The Ganges and Yamuna and invisible Saraswati river, is the site for historic Kumbh Mela.

22,Dudhwa National Park

Is located in the Terai at the Indo-Nepal border of Uttar Pradesh. The Park is home to large number of endangered wild animal species, Major tourist attractions of Dudhwa wildlife park are Tigers, leopards, Honey badger, barasingha, Elephants,Hog deer and sloth bear. Other famous places and tourist attractions of Uttar Pardesh are Mahoba Kakra math,Mahoba Sun temple, Kalinjar fort, Kapilvastu, Sankassa,Kosambi,Shravasti,Bareilly,Sardhana and Aligarh, Aligarh Muslim University is one of the largest cities in Uttar Pradesh.
