Kaziranga National Park also called as the "Hotspot of Biodiversity" has the total extent of 430 square kilometers. The park is split into four zones but the elephant safari is organized in the two zones only: the Central or Kaziranga range and the Western or Bagori range. Elephant rides timing and routes are decided by the park management. The park authority retains the right to change the timing and routes. Usually, guests prefer to take safari in the western zone where they will have chance to get close view of the rhinos. Do not make any perception about a particular zone because all zones take you to the heart of the park and there is no such bad zone. Every zone is unique in term of forests, grasslands, density of mammals & bird, land topography, terrains etc.
The Kaziranga Elephant Safari is conducted by the forest department in the two morning shifts. One Shift is 05:00 AM to 06:00 AM and the other shift is 06:00 AM to 07:00 AM
The elephant safari can be booked at the two centers at the two safari zones which are the Central zone, also known as Kaziranga zone, at Kohora and the Western zone at the Bagori. At both the centers, the permits for the elephant safari can be obtained without any hurdle. The elephant safari is organized only in the morning time in the three shifts for one hour from 05:00 am to 06:00 am, 06:00 am to 07:00 am and 07:00 am to 08:00 am. The third shift (07-08 am) is organized only if there are more tourists who cannot be accommodated in the earlier two shifts. So, the third shift is optional and depends on the park authority to organize or not. For the elephant safari in the western zone, the safari permits can be obtained from the range-office at Bagori and for the elephant safari in the central zone, the safari permits can be obtained from the centenary convention center at Kohora. The western zone is considered as the best zone for the elephant safari and most of the tourists choose this zone for the maximum enjoyment of the elephant safari in the dense forest of Kaziranga.
You can book elephant safari permit by directly visiting the Kaziranga zone offices or you can consult us to book the safari for you in advance so that you can enjoy the safari conveniently without any hurdle when you will reach there on your scheduled date.
Elephant Safari Remains Closed 1st May To 30th October.
